Procreate, After Effects

Description

For this assignment we had to make an animation portraying specific words we chose. I chose words with a primal human theme. Mine were sustenance, create, hunt, adrenaline, flee, protect, fulfillment, affection, replenish, and rest. For this assignment I really wanted a theme interlacing modern man with ancient humans in the wild and nature. I tried to make it somewhat resemble an ancient cave painting in its style.

For the process of this piece I created several black and white frame by frame animation in procreate on my iPad. I then combined them in after effects and turned the white background into a cave wall, and colored a lot of the black using rotoscoping of masked solids with mattes.
